Dragonflies and Butterflies.
The dragonfly and butterfly pictures are made using free machine embroidery on soluble fabric in coloured and metallic threads. The soluble fabric is then dissolved away leaving a fine tracery of threads. After finishing with beads etc, they are mounted into a wooden box frame.
Some of the insects have been mounted onto gold plated hatpins. They can be used as hat, scarf or lapel pins and are supplied with a safety tip. This will also keep them secure when in use. In each case the pin is 13cms long, the dragonflies are 9cms across the wings. Sizes given for the butterflies are for wingspan.
I have also mounted some of my fabric beads onto gold plated hatpins. They have been embellished with decorative beads and are supplied with a safety tip. They are 13 to 14cms long.
